Informant biographical notes
David Fiorentini was born in Siena on 11 January 2000 to Filippo Fiorentini and Rachel Yankilevitch. He was raised within the Jewish community of Siena, where Paola Treves served as his godmother. Her husband, Fabio Castelnuovo, taught him for many years the liturgical and paraliturgical repertoire of the Senese Jewish tradition, particularly the Pizmonim. Initially transmitting this musical heritage to David, and subsequently to the younger members of the Kehillah, Fabio strived to preserve this tradition, which has now been passed on to his grandson, Roberto Ezra Castelnuovo.
Fabio Castelnuovo, born in Siena on 1 January 1943, was a central figure in the Senese Jewish community until his passing on 15 June 2025. He himself had been trained under the guidance of the community's long-serving capoculto, Professor Giuseppe Lattes, a leading figure who served the community from 1945 until the early 2000s.
