Informant biographical notes

"Giacomino" Farber survived the total annihilation of his family in Gorizia during the Shoah. One of his siblings was David, son-in-law to Benzion Fink, hazan in Gorizia from the early '900s to the 1930s, then hazan in Ferrara. To Bruno Farber, son of David and nephew of Giacomino, deported and killed at three months of age, is dedicated the garden behind the synagogue in Gorizia. After the war Giacomo moved to Milan where he eventually became parnas and help to the rabbi for many years. He died in 2015.

Notes on recording

The two items - barekhu and the berakhsh asher bi-dvaro - were recorded by Farber as a single, continuous item, so we preferred to keep this unity. It must be noted though that in the Catalogo Sommario the barekhu is noted as in use for only Shavuot, whereas the berakhah for all the three festivals.
